Mark Powders, PhD Researcher, Cranfield University
Mark’s research focuses on the separation and concentration of ammonia from return liquor at wastewater treatment works and its subsequent use as a green fuel. In line with the UK water sector commitment to deliver net-zero water supply by 2030, the proposed process aims to reduce emissions and energy consumption against conventional ammonia wastewater treatment.
Prior to commencing his PhD at Cranfield University, Mark obtained degrees in chemistry and chemical engineering. During this time his interest in waste recovery technologies developed by conducting published research on bioplastic recycling to recover green solvents.
